At minimum, women deserve a god that favors them the way the god of the Bible favors men.
I created Black Atheist Thot because I was tired of being quiet. As a Black woman raised in the church, I learned early what I was allowed to be—and what I wasn’t. Questioning wasn’t welcomed. Desire was controlled. Identity was limited. This platform is where I say what I couldn’t say before.
Eve, because she didn't trust God. And she had no reason to- he wouldn't even TALK to her. So she lead her own investigation and had the leadership skills god WISHED Adam had on his best day. Then there's Lot's wife who was turned to salt for looking back. But really it was just because she dared to disobey the "loving" god of the Bible. It was a punishment. Not a natural consequence. But I love that she defied God. She rejected fear and exposed the vicious psycho that God was. What about Job's wife? God had let Satan take away all her kids and she and Job's health & fortune despite Job being the most righteous man in the land. They don't say it- but she must have been a fine woman if the only righteous man chose her! She told Job to curse his god and accept death like a real nga. Rather than spending one more day feeling gaslighted about why he was suffering knowing he did not deserve it. Another real ass woman. Then there's Lucifer. The one who saw Heaven for himself and still opted out. He decided he had his own dreams and ambitions. Needless to say that dictator-God did not like that! Disagreeing with god or rejecting him is a sin. And nobody seems to realize that's UNJUST. But these characters, did.The similarities in the entities I named? They all pushed back. They all dared to have an independent purpose. Even if it cost them death- because what's life without the freedom to choose.
We've been silent for far too long. But it wasn't intentional. Our ample lips were stiched together with the threat of violence and shame. And in our silence... men have controlled our narratives. Silence is over."If you are silent about your pain, they'll kill you and say you enjoyed it." -Zora N. Hurston
